![]() The Dirty Dangerous Difficult Subbers Present... Episode 247 - The Dinner Show Part 1 Credits : armx, baybeegee84, jamieguo28, ka6_jeram, lordbordem, lushtea, magichouse, oneechan131, rayevang, shiphire, ZiyaadXD DDD Team News Hi, IC fans, this is jamieguo filling in for Lordbordem today. IC Ep 247 is the first part of the Dinner Show. Part 2 continues in Ep. 248, which has already been released. Due to all the requests we received and the fact that it was only one episode, it made sense to put this episode ahead of other episodes, although we've already have some timed and saved. This doesn't mean, however, that we will be doing the Song Festival out of order. Let me explain our process a little. You know know those flashy onscreen lines? First, those are timed exactly, then LB gets the timing and translates those first, then a typesetter must go line by line and match up the colors, text, position to try to make the subs blend in well. Finally, LB goes on to translate the AUDIO part of the show. In between all of this, things must be edited and checked or redone. We have around four active timers, one Korean translator, one Chinese to English translator and 2 or 3 active typesetters. Depending on our schedules, we do what we can when we can, so sometimes I help out not at all or a little, or with editing and timing. So while we understand your desire to watch the episodes with subs (bobsled, bobsled! is what I'm waiting for), it will be a very slow process unless we get more committed translators and typesetters. Heck, we have a pile of timings already done for future episodes (since we have a lot of timers) that just need to be translated and typeset. So in brief, we stagger the workload to make it easier for LB and typesetters especially to release it on time. Anyway we go back to the WM7 special now, and the next release will be Ep213 in 2 weeks time Subtitle Notes Now on to Ep 247, as you can tell from Ep 248, it's a fun episode with great musicians such as G-Dragon, 10cm, Bada, PSY, Sweet Sorrow, Jung Jae Hyung and Lee Juck appearing. The IC members get to sing for their supper as well, with often hilarious results. Enjoy! Requirements Now to get the most out of these subs, there are certain issues that need to be addressed. The subs only display properly on Media Player Classic - Home Cinema edition with a valid codec pack There is a few ways of meeting this requirement You can either just download MPC -HC if you have a codec pack at http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/ Or you can get a codec pack, that also includes MPC - HC you can either get K - Lite Codec Pack Standard at http://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm Or CCCP http://www.cccp-project.net/ I personally recommended K - Lite since it is updated more often and newer For everyone else, if you want we will also release a version without the detailed typesetting if it's requested For Mac Users We currently recommend using the latest version of VLC at http://www.videolan.org/ or Movist at http://code.google.com/p/movist/ or Mplayer Extended at http://mplayerosx.sttz.ch/ We have also gotten a report from @rimu5 that the latest version of Quicktime and a Mac Codec Pack should also work well with our subtitles thanks to @rimu5 Hopefully one of the three should work with our typesetted subs, we unfortunately don't have a mac user to test these but feedback from other anime subbing groups seem to suggest that these should work the best on the Mac Platform RAW Videos RAW Video required for the subs is the HANrel SD Video We cannot guarentee that the subs will work correctly with other release groups (E.g Baros, KaRot etc) We also cannot guarentee that the subs will work with the 450p and 720p versions of the HANrel videos (They should work 80% of the time but might have a few onscreen placement issues in MPC-HC, but not in VLC) You can get RAW videos from the sites listed in this link. http://dddfanclub.com/index.php?showtopic=108 Recruitment We are currently looking for more team members for the DDD IC Subbers. We are currently looking for almost anyone who is willing to help out regularly and consistently. 1. Typesetters (Priority) 2. Translators (Korean --> English and Chinese --> English) 3. Timers As long as you are willing to learn new things then it should be fine How will this work? Everyone who would like to join needs to go create a Google Wave account at http://wave.google.com You can then PM rayevang/lordbordem/magichouse your google wave account and we will initially add you into the general discussion area of the DDD Subbers Wave. You will then spend a intern period in there and after you have gotten used to the modus operandis of the DDD Team, we will include you into the DDD Subbers Subbing Waves. The team numbers will be capped at 20 members for now. Thank you for reading! Subtitles Now here are the subs.... Episode 247 - The Dinner Show Part 1 -DO NOT USE GOM PLAYER- TYPESET http://www.box.net/shared/0aqy1bm5seut35q6b26v And the old ones are at http://www.box.net/shared/y52n3f7ec1 You can check out the DDD IC Fan Club for more information - the Subtitles section for english subs (Softsubs Only) - the FAQ section for general enquiries and technical assistance (e.g. how to play softsubs) - the DDD Subbers Twitter Account at https://twitter.com/DDDSubbers - the DDD Fan Club Forum at http://www.dddfanclub.org Enjoy~ |

@strider_mark27 not trying to scare off potential new members but just a few caveats. First the good one, except for translators, none of our other positions requires any foreign language knowledge, as long as you know English you should be fine (We have translators tag all the correct colours for onscreen etc so that typesetters/editors don't need to know Korean to do their work) Now the bad news... Because of our severe lack of members and time lately, we are going to have a hard time guiding new members through the whole learning process. So there is going to be quite a lot of self learning. We got a whole bunch of notes for timing and typesetting on our waves but it's mostly going to be self taught unfortunately Also we've had a few new recruits in the last couple months go missing after a day or 2, which is rather disheartening and annoying. So yeah...the smaller the group, the harder it is to actually recruit new members and maintain them =( |

hmmmm... so, i'll be qualified for a timer or a typesetter in your team, but first, i'll be studying how to typeset and time subs so that when i am included in your team, i will not be a liablity. what software for timing and typesetting are you using so that i'll be able to learn it quickly? |

We use aegisub, which is what pretty much every other subbing group uses (To be honest there isn't too much choice in this regard) http://www.aegisub.org/ If you want to see how our typesetting is done and what our timing is like, you can load up our subs in aegisub and have a look, we tend to organise our subs fairly well since we release soft-subs so they should be easy to understand As for timing, we only time the onscreen stuff (So in the subs it's the lines from line 1 till the start of the audio lines, it's sectioned out and commented). We get the translators to time and translate the audio lines since that's just better and more efficient. One hint for timing, make sure you load audio from video and use the audio spectrum, it's much easier and faster to time that way (We explain it in our DDD Design Document) |

thanks, lordbordem... got a hunch that aegisub is the one you were using and already installed it... you do one heck of a job in timing and typesetting, so, i'm gonna learn this software and pm you in the quickest time... thanks again... got to download the ddd design document for the guidelines and this made the learning a lot easier(because of design protocol)... fansubbing sure is hard work... i admire you guys... i have so much free time so i will be learning this stuff and get back to you... |
